To recycle ruthenium from spent catalysts and various ruthenium-containing materials, the first thing to solve is the dissolution of ruthenium. Insoluble elemental ruthenium or ruthenium dioxide is converted into water-soluble high-valent cations or ruthenate ions, which greatly improves the dissolution rate of ruthenium, thus laying the foundation for follow-up work.
