In the late 1970s, the metal anode electrolyzer replaced the graphite anode electrolyzer with a history of more than 80 years, which was a great revolution in the chlor-alkali industry. Metal anode ruthenium titanium coating has been used in my country's chlor-alkali industry for more than ten years. In 1988, my country's caustic soda production had reached 2.978 million tons, and 1,900 30 m2 industrial tanks had been put into use nationwide, accounting for more than 30% of the country's chlor-alkali production capacity. In recent years, it is still growing on a large scale. The application of metal anodes has brought about a new situation of high output, high quality and low consumption in the chlor-alkali industry.
With the passage of time, in a considerable part of the electrolytic cell, the electrocatalytic performance of the anode has declined, and the cell voltage has increased at a rate of 60 mV-70 mV per year. According to relevant reports, some metal anode coatings only 2g/m2-3g/m2 ruthenium is left, and such electrodes cannot be used any longer. The issue of repairing and updating the battery cell has gradually come up on the agenda.
